Lock Out Tag Out

Lock Out – Tag Out (Isolating Machinery & Equipment Energy Sources):

Ensuring workers are protected by applying effective Lock Out -Tag Out (LOTO) to equipment & machinery during workplace activities that prevents exposure to significant or serious harm from hazardous energy sources based on a critical company H&S expectations & requirements under ‘The Act’ .

This session gives workers the knowledge to identify when & how to apply isolation procedures to ‘lockout & safely reinstate’ machinery / equipment.

Through theory & simulated training exercises, workers will have the opportunity to conduct multiple tag out and lockout scenarios, increasing awareness & reinforcing  understanding and practical skill applications.

All of this in accordance with the requirements under the HSAW 2015 to ensure ‘all reasonably practicable steps’ are taken & in line with company SOP’s around the specific requirements of standard setting bodies.

Ideally trainee’s attending would have at least 3 months of work experience in their industry prior to attending this training.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognise Why & When LOTO might be required.

  • Conducting various machinery & equipment lockout methods

  • Demonstrate machinery lockout and identify common reinstatement steps

  • Conduct Reinstatement Process following lockout procedures

  • Applying isolations to various energy sources & identifying potential Permits & requirements

  • Identify how isolations are verified to achieve ‘zero energy state’ (proof testing methods)

  • Common Emergency Procedures & Actions

'How Work' Procedures

Workers will clearly identify the multiple types of ‘Hot Work’ regularly occurring on worksites & the significant hazards & risks that apply in various industrial settings as is highlighted by the National Fire Protection Association. ITA’s training addresses these risks, offering a systematic approach for plant management & effective controls to the various hot work risks that some might not expect.

Through this training program, participants gain valuable insight into managing open flame operations, heat transfer & the high-risk products associated with hot work.

We regularly guide supervisors & managers on implementing ‘best practices’ and provide detailed instructions on the benefits of utilizing Hot Work Permits, ensuring protection of ‘Property & People’ & common Insurance complications & consequences that can & have occurred.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Defining various common & less common types of 'Hot Work'

  • Effective Hot Work permits

  • Worker Training requirement to be ale to carry out 'Hot Work'

  • Management & common hot work control options

  • Related Industry Standard criteria

  • Fire Watch criteria and tasks

  • Fire Prevention & Suppression options

  • Managing Hot Work Emergencies

Fire Extinguisher / Fire Suppression Systems

Gain knowledge in the operation of different types of fire extinguishers and fire suppression techniques used in workplaces.

This course will provide workers with sound knowledge in understanding different types of fires and extinguisher options giving them the practical skills to put out (suppress) a fire using appropriate equipment and safe techniques to effective fire suppression. â€‹

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding the principles around fire science and chemistry

  • Recognise fire classes and effective suppression techniques

  • Common Emergency Procedures and Processes relating to Fires

  • Managing 'work group' situations in the event of a fire

  • Selecting and implementing appropriate strategies in dealing with different fires
