Confined Space Entry & Rescue

Duration: ​1.5 Days

Course Information:

  • This comprehensive program covers control measures, including Lock Out Tag Out procedures, monitoring, and atmospheric testing. Participants will gain insights into the roles and responsibilities crucial for safe confined space operations.

  • Additionally, staff will develop proficiency in planning and executing effective confined space rescue procedures.

  • This training is also designed for supervisors tasked with planning and executing entries and exits from confined spaces, as well as Safety Observers, and "Permit to Work" staff.

Workers credited with these unit standards are able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of safe confined space entry

  • permit notification and implementation requirements

  • identify control measures to eliminate, isolate, and minimise the risks in confined spaces

  • demonstrate knowledge of monitoring and gas testing requirements

  • describe the responsibilities and duties of people entering confined spaces

  • conducting observation duties for confined spaces

NZQA Unit Standard Options Include:

  • US 17599: Plan a confined space entry

  • US 18426: Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined spaces

  • US 25510: Use, interpret & record gas detector readings
