Confined Space Entry Training (C.S.E.) - 1 or 1.5 days

Working in any Confined Spaces is recognized as being 120 to 150 times more dangerous than doing the same job outside! Workers will gain the knowledge to clearly define what a confined space actually is (as per the Industry Standard definition) learn how to identify & manage both common & specific confined space hazards, successfully complete & meet the permit & documentation requirements, before, during & after an Entry, ensure all control measures (including Lock Out Tag Out procedures) monitoring and atmospheric testing requirements are meet & reviewed along with ensuring the responsibilities and duties for roles to undertake confined space work safely are carried out. Staff will also be required to plan & prepare an effective confined space rescue procedure.
This training is recommended for entry staff & supervisors required to plan & carry out entry & exit into & out of confined spaces (ie. Safety Observer, Entrants, Supervisors)
NZQA unit standard options include: (1 & 2 days)
US 17599 Plan a confined space entry
US 18426 Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with confined spaces
US 25510 Use, interpret & record gas detector readings

Safe Working at Height Training (SWAH) - 1 or 1.5 days

Staff will identify & demonstrate the legislative requirements for suitable safe systems working at height.
Understand hazards associated with wearing a fall arrest harness, check, fit and use a safety harness system, then develop & carry out an effective rescue plan.
Recommended for workers operating at any height using ladders, scaffold, trestles, or required to use a harness for either Fall Prevention / Restraint (23229) or Fall Arrest (15757 - being caught after a fall has occurred) or any other height equipment ordinarily used by their employer
NZQA unit standard options include:
US 23229 Use a safety harness for personal fall prevention when working at height (4 credits) - 1 day
US 15757 Establish & Dis-establish Fall Arrest Systems (4 credits) - 1.5 days
US 25045 Carry out safe work practices using height equipment (8 credits) - 1 day
US 17600 Explain safe work practices for working at heights (3 credits) - 2 days
