A Class 3 vehicle is a rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight of more than 18,000kg but less than 25,000kg.
About the Course
The Class 3 licence is a three-day or two-day course. Students must provide their own vehicle for this course
Day 1 is to offer support for you to pass your Class 3 learner licence. You will be instructed on the Class 3 and general Road Code. When you are ready, you then head to the AA to sit the Class 3 learner licence. You are not required to purchase a road code for this.
Day 2 you are required to be trained and work through each Unit Standard by filling out a workbook, (this is an open book exercise) as this is part of your learning process. This will be followed by a closed book assessment.
Day 3 the assessor will take you for a practical drive. Once you are competent, on the assessments and drive, you will be given your Class 3 certificate which you then produce to the AA, for it to be recorded on your licence.
